    Best Ford

I think the best Ford ever make is the Mustang. The best engine would be a 302 V8. The Mustang could be ordeed in coupe, fastback, convertable with any trim level or performance package offered and there were many! Being a Ford employee for 26 years and seeing what works and what doesen't anyone knows the Mustang assembly plant has been runing since 1964 and is the only one on overtime today! There were also 3 plants building Mavericks/Comets That car would have to be a good 2nd place. I own a 1974 Maverick Grabber and a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang. Im very lucky to have the very best! Joe

A Pantera is not a Ford. It is a DeTomasso, which is an Italian car. They had the good sense to put a Ford engine in it.

The Lincoln is obviously the best Ford ever made. It was actually invented by the SAME guy who invented the Cadillac. His name was Henry Leland, who was a good friend of Henry Ford. He named the car "Lincoln" after his favorite U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. He named the Cadillac after the French Explorer of the same name. Henry Ford bought the Lincoln and General Motors bought the Cadillac.

While obviously not a light-weight performance car, the Lincoln is the highest quality, best built car that Ford ever made...

    Interesting topic.............

The GT 40 without a doubt
    the best engine ever "produced"
    427ci SOHC
If you have ever heard one they are awe inspiring.
Any big block that rev as much and make that kinda power is tops in my book. I would say however today Ford could engineer just about anything that could be better if they wanted to.

I can't come up with only one. 34 Ford, 40 Ford, 41 Ford coupe,
    51 Victoria, 55 Crown Vic, 64 to 66 Mustang, 89 to 91 Crown Vics,
( SORRY 70 Maverick had to put that in there) 50 Merc coupe (2 dr) (wasn't a real coupe, they just called them that.
Best eng same thing 302, 351C, 200,427,429 Boss 429. Above choices are not necessarly in my favorite order; and I probably missed some. Jan

The Maverick is my vote. The onely flaw it has is it does not have the 67 and up shock towers so you could fit my favorite motor in it, the 351 Cleveland. With a few simple inexpensive mods my friend has his 67 4-bbl 11:1 compression solid cammed 8000 RPM ball of evil taking down 427 Cameros, and other big block heavys at the street races. It was kinda humbling to watch that Mustang go because the big block Camero would hole shot him bad, by a car or two then the Stang would hit its song and sail past him at half track. The Camero guy was pretty mad they raced several times and over severall months and exept for once he lost. God those motors sound insane!

It may not be the best car Ford ever made, but I'm voteing for the Mustang as the most popular car Ford made. But then, I'm kind of fond of Mustangs since the first car I ever owned was a 66' Mustang and that car sold me on Fords. The 1969 Mach1 is still my favorite. In the non-Mustang catagory, I have to go with the Gt 40 and the Talladega. The 302 is a great engine and the little 200 was just indestrutable. My 1968 Mustang had almost 300,000 miles on the original, unrebuilt 200 six cylinder and it was still running. It wasn't running great anymore( it was TIRED!), but it was still running.:D

    Like so many of you!

After reading all the posts, all I can vote on would be my truck.
I know it's not a car but it is so damn reliable that I have to give it my vote. 1992 F150 inline 300 6 cyclinder 226,000+ miles and still going strong!

I hate to copy so many other but I to love the 69/70 Mach-Boss Mustangs.

This as been a GREAT Topic, thanks to so many of you I've learned a lot today. TL has enlightened us on who made the Lincoln and Cadillac, Max Power let us know that the GT40 did put a whoopen on the Ferrari. Well worth reading, thanks 171Grabber!

Yes, the Mustang was definitely the most popular.

My favorite is the '69-'70 Shelby GT-350/500

    The GT-40 is waayy cool.

Ford trucks are my personal preference.

But the question was; what is the "best" car Ford made, not the most popular.

Obviously, Ford's highest standard of quality would go into the Lincolns...ya get what ya pay for afterall.

Ford owns a large portion of Jaguar now. Actually improved the Jag's electrical systems.

Someone might want to start a thread asking; what's your "favorite" Ford, or what were some of the most popular models that Ford made?

Personally, I love the Maverick. It was a great looking little car and should have had the same performance options as the Mustang, but then everyone would have bought a Maverick instead of a Mustang.

    :D
