nope the autogage line is the cheaper one.

The ones that are made in the US are the lines like the phantoms, pro comps ect ect.

I know a few guys that run Dakota Digital in there 57 chubbys. Great stuff, use thier wires, my friends say they are a different resistance and wont work with regular wires.

i would guess that they are shielded some how. im sure dakota digital will have instructions for what ever is necessary to properly install the gauges. i also suspect that if they do require their wire then they will include it.

This could have been an earlier problem. One of the guys who had this problem on a 56, said it was over 4 years ago.

Come to think of it his cluster was not Digital it was Analog.

I agree w/ those who say go w/ better quality gauges. If I were going Digital, it wud be DD. I put a set of Autogauge's in my car and after a little over a year I had to get a new set. They worked fine for the time I had them, but I had the water temp gauge sensor cable break, at the vry rear of the gauge. There is no replacing just the one gauge; u have to buy the whole set agn.
I can't say it was all the gauges fault - I had them dangling on occassion to do work on/under packtray and dash.
I woundup buying a set of Autometer Phantom 2 5/8 triples. I shud have bought them in the first place - the difference in quality is apparent.
You can replace them individually - if the need arises. As has been stated many times "U get what u pay for".
The one thing I liked better abt the Autogauges - the lighting seemed more consistent thru-out the set. I have one gauge in the Autometers dimmer than the others.

    Hey Everett,

Did you check the voltage across the different bulbs in your gauges? Might be an issue with either the 12V supply or ground on the dim one. Voltmeter would tell the story.

The leads for the bulbs on mine are attached to the I and G terminals on each gauge. Lights are on if the key is on, which works fine since the gauges are down low and lights are helpful even in daytime. No dimming, but they're low enough so its not an issue at night. Makes for simpler wiring too.

I didn't use the colored covers for the bulbs.

No, I have not. They are all wired in series to a common feed and shud be getting the same volts. Also, a common grn. I am feeding off the light sw dimmer. I will ck them out the nx time I have to do any work under the dash - Which I hpe ain't no time soon:yahoo:
I have bn engaged in uncluttering my garage, "spray" painted all walls white, bought a tool chest to keep all tools in one place and enjoying my other hobbies B4 winter/snow sets in. U see I changed my avatar!
That's what I bn doin lately. Anyway, got the car running pretty gud and enjoy it all summer.

Car on hold for now. Thanks for the suggestion - the dimmer lites are just a minor issue - don't drive that much at nite anymore.
Congrats on gettin the 347 working...
