Interesting stories by all. I liked the Mavs the minute I saw the first ad that introduced them. Then in 1972 I was out in the street working on my first car (56 Chevy 110 2dr sedan ) My Dad would not let me bring it in the driveway cause it leaked oil so badly. Debbie Page was a chick who was a couple years older than me and really cool, and hot! She used to walk down the street to my house and talk to me while I was either working on my car or motorcycle. So one evening I am out working on my car and this red 72 grabber goes by real slow. It had mags and was jacked up. I could not take my eyes off it! He stopped at Debbies house and went up to the door, knocked and was let inside. I walked down the street and was slobbering over this car. I remember it like yesterday. Then he and Debbie walked out, they were going out on a date. He asked me what I was doing by his car. I just told him that I thought it was really the best styled car I ever saw and that hood had lines that really set it off. He seemed annoyed at me, the greasy kid that his date was smiling at. They got in and I remember thinking, hmmm its a 6 banger. Thought some more and decided if I ever found one like that with a V8 I would have to have it. Two years later I found a red 72 Grabber V8 at a used car lot. That was my first Mav. I did not get the girl though. Debbie's Dad was transferred to New York about a year later. Never kept in touch with her. She was one of the coolest people I ever have known.

    74 "Bruiser" Mav-
When I was little my brother was in collage(he worked in a salvage yard during the summer). He had this Green 74 Mav. with a comet GT scoop, keystone classics, 289 out of a Mustang (all these parts came from the salvage yard). I always loved that car. SO I bought a 77 Mav (To be like him) and proceded to tear it apart and never put it back together. :( My brother graduatated from collage and moved to Ft.Worth TX. He was there for about 15 years. He lost his job and ended up getting a new job in Sweden(yes over there). He called me on the phone and asked "You want this old Maverick?" I said "Hell Ya" So I flew to TX, helped him pack his house up and drove that car home from TX with about 20 psi of oil pressure. Best trip of my life. Thanks Bro!!!
