This is a completely separate question, but what do you suggest for looms, regardless of wires. I have not found the loom that will keep my wires where I want them (possibly part, or ALL of my current problem:oops:).

Hey Blown...I hope these wires don't make my front end hop off the ground like yours...I need to keep control of the steering while I am cruising the streets:D

I have been running the Accel 300s on my car for 5 years never had one problem with them, except they wont make my front tires come off of the ground :hmmm:

A friend of mine showed me how to make looms using standard wire ties. They stay put and keep the wires separated.

Scott PM me you email address and I will send you a pic that you can zoom in on.

I have Taylors on mine seem fine.
And on a side note i see you are running a 40 thou plug gap.Seems kinda large for a pertronix.I always ran 30-32 on my Big block with the pertronix.Just curious i was always told the larger the gap the harder the ignition system has to work.Maybee i was running too tight.

accell super stock 8mm on the 76 mav...and accell 300+ 8.8 on the 73 mav...sorensen 7mm OEM replacement wires(Western Auto) on my 289 63 ford fairlane500 sportscoupe... the only performance improvement on the fairlane was the change from points to a 85 mustang duraspark and a gm electronic module with msd blaster coil with small distributer cap and rotor...

Taylor's with MSD6AL and a Blaster 2 coil, never any issues with this setup!
Accel SS coil was fried along time ago.

valley, could the Accel SS not take the better coil and MSD setup?

Only issue I had with SS (on a mostly stock motor, of course) was that they were yellow, and I could never keep them looking nice.

The wider the gap - the harder your system has to work.
    You were told right.

I used to run .046, but I will be closing it up to .036 on this setup.

I used Taylor and the looms from mustangs plus. If you get the universal set you can cut and run the wire perfect. I like a nice clean look.

Hey, Maverick1970, I got that picture, and that is PRETTY COOL...and it will work with any size wire!

I will have to try that this afternoon and see if I can make it look as nice as yours.

AND, thanks for providing a good picture to show me how to arrange and route my wires!!!:thumbs2:

MSD 8mm for your setup. Gap on the plugs should be no more than .036....you might want to try .032 and work your way up.

i also run the accel 300+ wires. they have a life time warente. ive warented them once because they hit a header tube on my mustang. yes im useing the same set on the mav. a friend who went to the school of automotive machineists (SAM) said that they had dynoed every plug wire they could get there hands on and the accel ones made the most power.
