You might even be able to get the bumper straightened. Chrome on it looks pretty good from the pics.

    Looks like a nice driver.

Like mentioned .... disc front brakes. While you are in there, cut the springs one coil. Throw some wheels and tires at it, and maybe some flat black sports mirrors ... and drive the wheels off of it.

I think I've been looking at the old historic racing mustangs too much. I'm thinking of getting some pieces from opentracker... Roller perches, Shelby drop, roller uppers and lowers, mustang gt springs with 1 coil removed and upgraded shocks

That's an old hose for the overflow. It was laying on top during the photo

Looks like the start of a really nice car, and great driver.
Fix the dented fender or replace it, and have the front bumper straightened.
Put some Global West upper/lower control arms with their front strut rod and even maybe some coilovers, do the shelby drop, get some Eibach springs, bigger tires for the front on painted rims and a dual exhaust and go out and start carving some canyon roads...................did you buy that car around here???????????? Just the kind of car I'm looking for.

I bought the car in Tracy, I actually had it up for sale for $1800 not to long ago with no bites. I already have coil overs for my other comet. So I'm thinking of something other than coil overs.

I would repaint it in the original colour, and do the same green with the wheels, leaving the centre caps as they are. Drop it a few inches and fix the cosmetic stuff (dents/bumper, seats, etc) then pick away at the go-fast stuff. It would make a perfect restomod/sleeper.

Looks like a solid foundation. I would swap a maverick front end on it and slowly fix it up.

I like the comet better, I sold a 72 grabber when I found my comets.

Baaah! $1800. I live in the wrong country. Here I would throw that money at you for a running, driving, not rusted comet with the optional "dented fender" no kidding.

Dent the other fender so you'll have a matched set. If it's not working, don't force it; get yourself a bigger hammer.

The dent just adds to the sleeper look. I have 2 straight and rust free fenders for it.
