I was given a killer set of headers once. All I had to do was give up my car for a few days. :yikes: Can you get any luckier than that? (y)

    Thanks Jamie!!

BTW, we have confirmation now that the Doug Thorley headers fit a '65 Falcon with a 298-347 engine, a T-5 and stock poer steering. I know there are Falcon / Comet / Ranchero people out here lurcking.

Best scores had a bunch, but a few that top the list are my 429 cj heads on my 64 pick up,answered an ad for rebuilt 429 heads, everything new, comp springs, ford racing studs and guideplates, over $2000 in bills to prove,$800 bux. Got there and they were cj heads, bought them and then the guy said ''do you want the rest of the engine?''Naturally i said yes,got home called a guy that was buggin me for 460 parts said i needed to sell my 69 460 heads [ that i ran for 8 yrs] and i would sell them today for $700. He showed up and took them that day so in all reality i got a complete 429 cj for $100.The other deal was my Comet. The guy i got it from had $6500 in the car, needed cash quick and i bought it pretty much as you see it but dissasembled for $2500.

One of my best freebies is the 2 performer rpm intakes one 302 and one 460 i got at a garage sale. The woman was putting everything away and she said that they were just old junk that her son had left behind when he moved out and to take them because she didn't want to get her hands greasy again moving them back in the garage.I said thanks and did her the favor of hauling them away for her.:D

About 5 years ago I bought a non-running 73 Torino fastback for $125. Had a 351C 2v. Rebuilt the carb washed out the tank and fuel lines and got it running. Parted the car out for just over $1200.
Best freebie - neighbor retired as a steelworker and I mean retired (sold off everything including his truck). Then he decided to clean out the shop. 2 days worth of helping him clean out things he told me to take the scrap metal and keep the money. Was just over $600.

Best paid score-a'76 Comet that had been t-boned.No motor/trans but was a v8 car with...disc brakes, magnum 500s,nice interior.Gave $20 for it.Guy had bought it wrecked solely for the 302/c4.He lived in a sub-division and needed the carcass gone yesterday.
Best freebie-a '71 Grabber minus motor/trans and all suspension.Had a good grabber hood, spoiler, sport mirrors,v8 stuff, bucket seats, really nice doors.Had a 351w in it,broke the right framerail behind the control arm,so they put all the driveline in a '67 Fairlane.I owned this car years ago,so they told me I could have it back if I'd come get it.
Still got 'em both, but they have been picked over pretty good.

In 3 weeks I may be posting the most amazing score of all time .... I am not discussing it with anyone prior to it being in my garage because I don't want to jinx the deal ...

As of right now .... my 100% Rust-Free 71 Grabber for $2,000 has been my best score ....

2nd best was about 2 years ago when I basically stole two storage buildings full of NOS, new and used Maverick Grabber and Comet GT parts ... which were all sold here on the board ... except for the rust-free Grabber hood sitting in my Garage as a spare. :D

Oh ... and paying $1200 for my Rust-Free yellow Maverick was pretty sweet too ... Terry still says I ripped off that old lady!

Picked up a diet coke at a gas station, popped the top, started drinking it, and walked out forgetting to pay for it...my best score to date, and still feel guilty for not paying for it. That was back in 1990...

The best score ever was back in 92 when I got my Comet. My friends uncle was drunk and told me I could have it for free if I could get it out of his driveway that day. Title in hand, I used a piece of cardboard from his trashcan, cut it with a pocket knife to match the bottom of the carb, a little gas from his lawnmower and vrrrrooom! I had Comet. I've owned in excess of 15 cars and it's still the best one I have ever owned.
