The bad thing is that my dad wouldn't let me drive my car in the salt during the winter since it was my great grandmothers. It still rusted out in frt and behind the quarters.....must have been all the rain we get?? Not bad and should be an easy fix but I have seen pics of Mavericks from up north and now I feel lucky that all I have to fix is about 4 areas.

That was trip down memory lane!!!...

I passed a rat-rod 1970 Matador (looks like the rebel Machine) last week - gave him a huge thumbs up and he had a grin for 3 blocks. Very rare and - like the 1970 Javelin - AMC "got it right" with beautiful style and proportion that noone recognized until decades later. Too late most of em are gone.

I saw a modified early 70s Capri last week - still sounded like a piece of crap even after 30 years.

Vancouver is way too expensive and the streets are STUFFED with nothing but new vehicles. It's rare to see anthing remotely close to what was on the roads (we were buying for $200 at the time - old Mustangs, Torinos, Chevelles, etc) when I was in high school.

A year after trading in my old MERCURY - a 69 Montego MX - I saw it by a shop in North Van and wanted it back. Didn't have the money - didn't see it again. Miss that car, but my Comet's feel "just as good".

Maybe, but you're going to have to keep that up for a long time or I might be next in line for that title! :burnout:

Well, considering at 22 years old, I'm already at 122,000 total miles behind the wheel of a Maverick (including the 10,000 I put on my '74 Grabber in 2005), and I have no intentions of ever driving anything else, I wish you luck. (y)

Well our apparent yearly averages aren't far off. All it would take is for something unfortunate to keep you from driving your Maverick for a few years and that tiara is mine! Not that I'd want or cause anything like to happen... :evilsmile

Within 50 miles of me, I know of only two more Mavericks that are being driven any, Clay Dye's former black one, and a ratty 71-72 Grabber owned by a guy in Fayette. Being on the road all the time in the southeast, I get to see a few every now and then. I saw a white 4 door last thursday up close to Rogersville, AL. As far as other cars of the same time period, there are two 68 Camaro's close by, a 70 Mustang fastback, a 68 Mustang coupe, a 66 Mustang coupe, a 74 Nova one owner car, a 55 Chevy Belair, and probaby a few I can't think of right now. Daily drivers? No. Most are only gotten out on pretty days to go to cruise in's or shows. I drive mine nearly every weekend, even if it's only to the parts store to get parts.

I just saw a 72 capri for sale the other day. And I wanted it bad. But when I was in high school "3 years ago" There was 4 students with mavericks. 2 73s a 74 and my 72 grabber one of the 73s got taken by the city because the kid left it on the street for too long. wish he would have told me about it. now my friend has 2 73s and I have my 72. the 74 was hauled to a junk yard.

I am from des moines iowa i no there are mavericks around but no one ever gets them out. When it comes to junk yards there is absolutely nothing. And for craigslist they pop up every once in awhile but the are normally trashed and rusted out. But i am proud to have a neighbor that has a maverick.
