    What size engine?
    What headers?
    Thanks!

now the headers are the down fall.....1 5/8. I have had my motor on the desktop dyno(for whatever that is worth???) and "it" shows almost a 50 horsepower gain with 1 3/4 primaries.

ratio411 if you are talking about the hooker 6208 headers I hope you don't mind some MAJOR mods to your car! Now I haven't put a set in a Mav or Comet with a 302 but my understandering is that it's not much better then the 351W I did install them in.

These headers are great but it took me two days to get them to work and a lot of cussing! (search for my post with pixs about the 6208's)

If you want a nice out of the box set of heads then the AFR 205 are one of the best without a lot of trouble. First think what are you using the car for, then get your heads and headers to fit your needs.

    Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the heads up.
I will be using 6208s, even if it means some work.
I will check out your post to see what you went through.
If you have anything to add, I would be glad to hear it.
I know they aren't listed specifically for the Mav, but the 65 is so close and most other brand headers for 65 Stangs are listed Mav too... So I figure, why not?.
It's worth a little trouble to get larger tubes IMO.

Hmm I forgot all about the Edelbrock Victor jr heads, 210cc intake ports 60, 70 or 75 cc combustion.... and its the same price as the AFR 185s, What does everyone think ? AFR 205s are like $2000 these 210s are only $1200, These heads will go on a motor making prolly less than 400 horespower but in a few months go on a monster ... Is it worth it ? Would I gain or lose power with these heads ?

    thanks

I love my Victor Jr's stage 3 port and polish... Sweet!!

72maverick302 If you read up a few post you will see a link to a set of heads on eBay for 549.00
These heads are bare but you can get valves, springs, keeper, retainers and locators off of eBay and save about $400.00 off the 1200.00 Jr's

Now I don't know how good these heads are but I will find out this winter because if I can get another set of heads to flow like my jr's are now for almost 1/2 the price then I got one hell of a bargin.(y)

    As always just my .02

For a 408" engine that you're wanting over 500 hp out of you should consider the AFR 205, Edelbrock Victor Jr or TFS Hi Ports. If it were my 408 I'd use the TFS heads or the Kaase heads.

However, using any of these on your current 302 will be a waste of time and good heads. Just keep what you've got for now and put the killer heads on the killer engine.

A couple of old threads have popped back up to the top without a new post. I see they have polls in them - I think if someone votes in a poll without posting it still brings it back to the top.
