dang, I figured my pipe size all wrong,...I probly should be using 2 1/4 inch single on my new one then huh?
yea...too bad you didnt have this IMPORTANT info before, you would have known that 2 1/4 is suffiencent for "300" :evilsmile hp engine
thats ok,....I like being different. (I'll be lucky if I can turn the tires with it anyway,...but hey, as long as it looks good )
Idunno. Maybe someone should tell Ford that they don't know what they're doing, since they seem to be unaware that a 500+ horsepower engine needs 3-inch or bigger exhaust system...
I would imagine that Ford did its research and figured out what its car needed for the power level they were shooting for, and having to deal with noise limitations and emissions or whatever to sell 50 state legal? which is slightly different than what most people on here do.and with a completely different R&D budget,.(millions vs. next to nothing) so, since a 500 horse engine doesnt need a 3 inch exhaust, just out of curiousity what "theoreticly speaking" would an engine need that makes double that ,say 1000+hp ? and using this information, does it make any difference if the engine in question is naturally aspirated or boosted(turbo, blower, ect)? or is power level= power level regardless of how it is produced? I'm curious
Induction does have an effect, at least if it's turbo'd. Also, the new Shelbys, from the dyno charts I see, are typically are in the range of 425-475rwhp stock. The 500 rating is at the crank.
I hate there sound to 5.0 . More a super turbo guy myself but I like old school stuff no x pipes also only h pipes.
Okay, I'll throw this out there. Dodge chose to go with a 2 3/4" exhaust system on the srt8's. Dodge has a few bux to throw around for R&D . Magnums/chargers/300's in the srt8 family are 6.1 liters and have an estimated 430 horse at the crank. Do you think that a 3" exhaust would help or hinder (keeping in mind that auto makers have to meet strict requirements on noise). 3" exhaust on a big azz srt10 truck makes a noteable diffrence .
Doesn't mention what he's using for an exhaust system. Anyone here have one of those? Didn't think so...
what difference does block size make?.....if the engine makes 1000+ horse, its gonna be breathing pretty well right? and I never mentioned "small block". a stroked windsor is still a small block even though it could be putting out big block cubic inches.
Excuse me, I coulda sworn I heard someone say automakers rate their cars now at the wheels? Also, 25rwhp is a big difference.
