My dad inherited "The Grandma Car" or sometimes just "Gramma" from his grandmother, as the name suggests. He had a Honda Civic at the time that was running fine, so he wondered "what am I supposed to do with this?". The Civic's motor blew up so he began driving the Maverick. He inherited a Nissan Stanza which got better mileage than Grandma, and drove that until it blew up too. He took the bucket seats out of it and put them in Grandma, and when my older brother was old enough to drive, my dad gave him the Maverick and bought a '92 2.3L Mustang LX convertible. My brother drove it until it gave him too many problems (since he doesn't know anything about working on cars) and I heard him scream down the street, screech to a stop in my driveway, and heard a clunk. That was the muffler falling off. He came inside and threw the keys at me, saying he didn't want it anymore after it stalled in a busy intersection and he nearly got hit. I grew up loving that car, and now it's mine.

I was trying to collect some money from a used car dealer (13 years ago) I had done some computer networking for the dealer. He was on the phone and so I was walking around outside waiting for him to finish with his call. I walked out back and there sits this ugly old orange and black striped Maverick, big old dent in the drivers door and back 1/4 panel, but it was a grabber with a 302 automatic. So here he comes and sees me just looking inside this junk and says do you like that car? I say NO WAY, I never cared much for the Mavericks. He says PLEASE these are a classic american muscle car, and I'm like yeah for granny maybe. Long story shorten because my fingers can't type that much, instead of this guy giving me my $800.00 I end up with a ugly old orange with black striped Maverick. So who ended up on the bad end of that stick? Wasn't me(y)

I was tha same as you,I didn't like the maverick becuase it would break down when I barely got it,once I knew more about mechanics and got it working it hasn't broken down not once since like last year, its a 1970 maverick and still running strong with no problems no leaks no nothing ,just running like a maverick should

Bought mine because it was the first one I ever saw, made the guy an offer after debating it for awhile. Since then, I have only seen 3 other ones in Northern California. But it feels good to be driving something not everyone has
