C-6 isn't much better than c-4 (Off the subject of manual trans.)

C-4's are a lot lighter than c-6's, and can be made to handle just as much HP (many 9 second cars, big and small block, run c-4's). Most newer trannies will adapt to older engines, except maybe the E40D (electric overdrive), but the AOD (made through the 80's and 90's) and T-5 will adapt, I think the AOD just needs a throttle position cable which attaches to the carb.
