What shifter? automatic or standard. I have only seen an auto floor shifter, this shifter has a bracket that screws to the transmission tunnel(a hole is cut in the top of the tunnel, factory dimples mark the spot), the shifter is connected to the transmission by a rod which is adjustable, I don't know if all Maverick floor shifters are the same as I have only seen them on '74 GRABBERS (mine)
