TBR,
Several people I have talked to have indicated that the manual disc brakes are "better" than the power disc brakes. What is your opinion and why? Is it simply weight? Also, did you suggest the front springs because of a switch to the V-8? I'm performing the same swap (86 5.0 into original 200 6cyl) and I was wondering which springs work the best. I like the front end low! I currently have a V-8 parts car so the V-8 springs are not a problem. Will the 6cyl springs not have enough travel with the heavier V-8? thanks

: ...Be sure to get the following from a donor car: complete rear end, front spindles & rotors (don't mess with drums up front, disc's are far superior), front springs, proportioning valve, 5 5-lug rims (you need a spare don't you?). Get a rebuilt master cylinder from a parts house. If you want power assist then get the booster and driver-side tower brace (frankly, these cars are so light you can get away without power assist). Don't even think of mixing the 4-lug & 5-lug brakes: the rear drums are bigger & will cause you all kinds of trouble during hard braking;( Good luck on the project.

: : Ok. I'm starting my upgrade plans. I plan on moving up to a 302 with a standard tranny and 5 lug rear end. I'll want to add AC (have only heater at present) and buckets also of course. I'll need hood, front bumper and front flaring (body under bumper) to replace bent/rusted ones. Also dash pads and at least one arm rest. Interior door panels would be nice as these are a little rusted. Question is: What car(s) can I get this off of if I can't find it all on a Mav? And what years would be compatible?

: : I have a 71 2 door, I6/200, no power anything, 4 wheel drum.

: : btw. If I'm going to a 5 lug rear shouldn't I also get a 5 lug front even if only for ease of rotation?

: : I don't really have a place to put a doner car at present so will probably have to get it in parts.

: : All advice is appreciated.

: : Thanks
