...According to your math my 73 Triumph GT6 has 9.6:1 compression ratio. They came from the factory that year with 7.5:1 CR. CR is a mechanical ratio of cylinder volume at BDC versus TDC. It factors in combustion chamber volume & head gasket thickness. I have to question the accuracy of this calculation.
:
: the other half .
: divide your compression by 14.7 to get true CR
: remember u are checking a cold engine so it will read a little higher
: usually on something with about 200 to 300 cid,u can knock off
: about 1/2 point because of air temp .
: as far as hesitation check the timing advance and look for air leaks
: in your carb and manifold usually this is caused by lean air fuel mix
: (but not always) the accelerator pump causes this a lot too..
: good luck !!!!!!!!!!
