It could be that your 20+ year old seals are just plain shot. IF your sytem is already discharged (probably is, if it's blowing hot) then YOU could replace all the seals yourself. They are little more than O-ring type seals at each 'joint' in the lines, and those are just compression fittings (the nut 'thingy' at each one) that 'unscrew' just like any nut or bolt would. This IS assuming your compressor is working properly of course!
