I bought my '72 mav 302 about 4 months ago. It had factory air but the pump was froze so it would actually kill the motor if you turned it on. Since the pump was huge and taking up valuable space/power, I took it off. The auto parts store wants $260 for a rebuilt one. At first I didn't think I would need it because I only have one more month of hot weather left. Well, as it turns out, this has been a really hot summer even by California standards hitting 111 degrees a couple days ago. I was at the junk yard today and found 2 mavericks with the I-6 that had a/c. The pump is a lot smaller than the original one from my 302. Does anyone know if this pump will fit? I didn't pay a lot of attention to the way it was mounted in there. Has anyone had any experience with finding a different a/c compressor in a different car? Should I trust one from a junkyard?
Sorry bout the long post.
