The cat is supposed to glow red That's how it does its job. . If the motor is running "rich", adjust the air/fuel mixture (make sure the timing is correct first). If that doesn't work, you may have a high float in the carburetor or a stuck or misadjusted choke. Try a rebuild kit. If you get another used carb from a junkyard; it's gonna need rebuilt anyway. If all else fails--you can always ask Craig or Ron...
