: That's WAAYYY too much to ask for a '74 four-door, six cylinder (you can ask however much you want but it ain't worth it). It's worth about $600 MAX (and that's only if it's in good condition). What's up with all these four-doors, guys?...

Let me chime in on this!!

Keep in mind the '57 Chevy guys were saying the same thing 20 years ago. Now, even '57 Chevy 4-doors are bringing a hefty price, but of course, not as high as the two door.

First of all, I would compare this $1200 car to say a car my friend just bought, a $1200 1989 Dodge Colt. Which is the better buy as far as a "daily driver"? I would go with the Maverick. It's easy to work on, it has a rebuilt engine, it's an automatic, I'm guessing (versus the Colt which is a 5-speed). The Maverick is a lot roomier, probably rides a tad better, and even maybe a little safer. And five years from now, the Mavderick will still be worth $1200, while the Colt will be worth $500. By the Way, a few days after he bought the Colt, it broke a CV joint, something a Maverick would never do.

I think the key to the price on this car is that you have to compare it to what else can be bought for $1200 out there. As a classic car, it might not be worth $1200, but as far as a daily driver, you can't beat it.

Finally, as the old saying goes, it's worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it.
