Ouch! Well, if i were you i would probably just have a sheet welded on top of the hole from the top or bottom, your choice, after rubberizing it (get rubberizer from pep-boys, walmart, kmart, etc...). If you are really worried about rust, or if you live in a place that has lots of rust you may want to consider Ziebart (www.ziebart.com, i think). My car was Ziebarted and there is absolutely no rust on it anywhere that i can find (none!!!!). I don't know about cost, mine was done the minute it came off the assembly line (about $150 back then--7/800 now?). It's basically just rubberizing the whole undercarriage and every piece of metal that they could find. You paint right over it too, so you can't tell the difference.
: Everybody remember the post about door drains last week? (My floor was soaked) Well... it's not a problem with the door drains (I found them by the way). When I looked at the underbody originally, I didn't see any rust. However, I was only looking under the front seat of the passenger side, where I found the water. Today I went to vaccuum it out and found it soaked also under the driver's side on the floor of the rear seat. I looked under there and found rust. Quite a bit of it. I also found a crack in the metal about two inches long. I gently touched it. Part of the metal fell away. I probed into the hole made by this with a screw driver. The only thing between the inside of the car and the outside of the car at that point is my carpet. Please tell me that there is a way that this can be repaired. Please? I'm very, very worried.
