Steering column

I posted a couple weeks ago about heater and wiper controls, which I now have fixed.
Thanks for the tip to go for the instrument cluster rather than the entire dash!
By the way, the wiper control that only worked on high speed was due to me burning out
the after-market wiper delay control. A little solder and a bit of wire and it works again!

I have a 74 Maverick with a 3-on-the-tree. The steering is a bit loose, the shifting is very
loose, and there is a loud clunk in the steering column when the front wheels go over a bump.
Any ideas (besides getting a four speed)? I'm trying to take apart the steering column, and
have been partly successful. Steering wheel is off, screws and parts are out from behind it.
I'm down to the collar that has the ignition switch in it, and I got the switch out, and I've
removed all the screws and spring clips that I can see, but it still doesn't come off. Is there
something hidden that I'm missing? Do I have to take out the spring C clip at the bottom of the
ignition switch hole?

Thanks for any help on this long posting.

Steve
