someone please help me out here! I have located a 1974
Mercury Comet 4-door sedan, that has 68,000
original miles from one owner, or so I am told. I saw the
beast and took it for a spin, it appeared to be in good
condition and ran very nicely. The seller, who took it off a
dealership lot that was not interested in it when it was
traded in, is convinced that this car will run forever
and give me few problems. My father, who is footing the
for my first car, is skeptical of the mileage and the car's
dependability. Both of us know nothing about Comets, is
this a risky propostion? the seller is asking $1200 for
the car, is this reasonable? The seller is also willing
to let us take the car to get it checked out by a mechanic,
is there any way of telling for sure the real mileage?
any help answering these troubling, globally important
questions would be much appreciated.
