Edlebrock cam?

Is anyone here using an Edlebrock Performer(not the RPM cam) cam in their 302, and using an automatic trans.?Does it have a strong bottom end?I am using 3.00:1 gears and I am afraid to go too big and sacrifice bottom end torque.Any input please.
