Another question about hood scoops

How exactly do you hook it up to the carb? Run a tube to the air intake? I dont know enough about engines to make a good assumption. This is mostly for looks but I would like to have it functional. Also off this subject If I take the vinal roof off of my mav when I paint it will the trim have gaps in it and stick out?
