Question: if you pull off the intake

Is the motor size molded into the block ??? I pulled off the intake on this motor ( that has 289 heads on it ) to find a 302 molded on the block . If it is a 302 with 289 heads, is that a good thing or not ???
I have the oil pan off can I messure the stroke from rod cap to rod cap ???
