you have to take the steering column out of the car and tear it apart. Just remove the covers and you'll see the rods that have to be removed. The column has two nuts at the bottom and the steering kuckle by the steering box. You might have to take out the key assembly which you just turn it to run and press the little brass pin that sticks out and it pulls right out. Just take your time and you'll have no problems. Steering columns look allot worst then they really are.

:Please explain in detail how to remove it. I'm just putting the interior back together and need to have it done by Friday! Thanks!!!! Mike

::depends on the year of your car. Some had trans lockups, plus backup lites. Backup lite is with the B&M as is the Starter safety switch. As for the 3 on the tree. it usually is tied in with the ignition lockout. Several ways you can do this. Wire it up where it needs to be, or (my recommendation) pull apart the column and remove the shifter lockout. looks better to. NOt that hard either.

:::I first went from a 3 speed on the column, to a automatic on the floor. I've switched everything over including all linkage. Using a B & M shifter. Any idea what I need to do to the column? I've diconected all of the 3 speed linkage, is there anything else that needs to be done? I heard about columns locking up, when this switch was peformed. What's up with that?! Thanks! Mike
