even if it is that tight of a fit, I'd stick with a widely known AOD vs an addition to the original tranny.
are you dead set against a 5 speed?
and if it fits the tunnel(which I'm not sure of, I dunno 70 Mav vs early Mustang) there isn't that much more work involved in comparison to a r & r of a tranny.
