:::I changed out a 250 for a 302 in a 75 Comet, had to shave the frame stiffener on the shock tower to fit the v8;
:::car ran great for 4-5 months, but now right side frame is flexing and allowing front tires to "fold" under car.
:::Anyone do this before?
:::Any suggestions on how to stiffen the frame now?

:Did not cut the shock towers themselves, and shock towers havent moved- cross braced against middle of rear fire wall/below windshield (stock braces on I6)
:only shaved the extra piece spotwelded to shock tower for I6 motor mounts- stock exhaust would not fit between these protrusions. I thought at the time that these pieces were motor mounts only, not frame stiffeners...
:plan on installing side to side piece in conjunction with frame stiffener- am doing fabrication myself to save money, metal work (welding/shaping, etc) is my job in the Navy; just looking for additional suggestions on how to recover at this point
:thanx

:madwil, I can't see what was done so can't say just what to do.
Go to a website called Maverick Grabber/Comet GT info site found off the links from this site. Click in tech. info then on v8 into 6 swap then on engine mounts. You will be able to see that the 6 and v8 frame portion are the same. Only the motor mounts are different. Using the correct exhaust manifolds there should have been no clearence problems assuming that some condition didnot cause the engine to set to low. I'm not trying to pick on you, only to show what the situation is. We did a swap here without the need for more clearence.
