::I changed out a 250 for a 302 in a 75 Comet, had to shave the frame stiffener on the shock tower to fit the v8;

:..Why did you do that? These cars had the v8 as an option. Even with aftermarket headers on a 302 there was no need to cut anything! Now you need to have a cross bar fabed (top of shock towers) to get the towers back to stock location then weld support back into that area so front end alignment can be brought back to spec.. In addition there is a cross bar that goes side to side under the engine that should have been installed.
:Good luck,Ken

Did not cut the shock towers themselves, and shock towers havent moved- cross braced against middle of rear fire wall/below windshield (stock braces on I6)
only shaved the extra piece spotwelded to shock tower for I6 motor mounts- stock exhaust would not fit between these protrusions. I thought at the time that these pieces were motor mounts only, not frame stiffeners...
plan on installing side to side piece in conjunction with frame stiffener- am doing fabrication myself to save money, metal work (welding/shaping, etc) is my job in the Navy; just looking for additional suggestions on how to recover at this point
thanx
