1972 Ford Maverick Grabber / Mercury Comet GT

HOME> BACK>

Ford changed very little on the Maverick for 1972.

The Luxury Decor Option was introduced.

The Grabber stripes were now availible in four seperate color combinations, including two that contained no black.

The 302 V8 soldiered on in its second year. All V8 and all 250 6 cyl cars had 5 lug (5 x 4.5) wheels, while the 200 and 170 6 cyl cars still had 4 lug (4 x 4.5) wheels.

The Grabber hood was only in its second year, but its last as well.

The Maverick was at its peak of performance in 1971 and 1972. With the introduction of the Pinto, the Maverick's mission changed. Instead of fighting with the imports, it now was a sporty, inexpensive (both in price and insurance rates) muscle car.
