Thrust Washers on '70 C4 Automatic tranny....

I'm in the process of rebuilding my tranny, it's a 1970 c4 automatic. I have the tranny almost completely apart, but now that i look at the thrust washers it looks like they may need replacing too....they're worn down to the copper--does that mean anything? or are they normally copper? I know that when an engine bearing wears down to the copper it needs replacing...but it also looks like the washers might have a little wear left in them.

Thanks for any info!
Also...let me know if there's some other thigns to keep an eye out for...
