Craig is right the motorhome is the best way to go. I spent about $3000.00 for a 2 week road trip, thats gas food and hotels. With the motorhome you can reduce the cost of food and hotels, gas will be about the same or worse. I've looked in to motorhome and they run between $1000.00-$4000.00 per week, depending on size. It is only a 3 day drive out maybe less in a motorhome (less potty breaks). 2 1/2 days at the Round up and 3 back and your just over a week and might be able to swing a daily rate for less. Now the trailer is another story. I'm lucky I have a friend with one that I can borrow, but most rental places don't rent by the week they rent by the trip and the cost for a round trip to Columbus and back might be as much as the motorhome? Check with every place you can they all have different prices and they very on season also.
As for a west coast round up I would suggest San Fransisco, Sacramento, Reno or Salt Lake they're all kinda in the middle. Problem is SF has a big show at the Cow Palce in January, Sacto has a big show at the ARCO Arena in Febuary, Reno has Hot August Nights on the same week end as the Round up, and Salt Lake is not a big show town, need to ask Mark Gustavson what is up there, so picking an event and getting everybody there is going to be tuff.
We sould look into finding a car carrier that could pick up everybodies cars and deliver them to Columbus and bring them back in one trip and combine our resorces to get a good deal. Now that would be ideal. Anybody own a car carrier that would be willing to do the driving??????
Anyway sign me up for both! Todd

: If you are really interested...you could look into renting a Ryder truck with a trailer...or renting a truck and a trailer. I think you would find that alot cheaper. In fact...look into renting a motorhome and a car dollie...then you could sleep in the motor home and not have any motel bills!!

: : I looked into shipping Alice over to Columbus (no way in hell am I driving across the US!) and found that transport cost are rather prohibative... (1100$ EACH way)...
: : There has been talk of a Western round up but so far nothing has jelled *pout*... Anyone game? Wyoming? Colorado? Cali? I would suggest Washington but it seems a bit hypocritical to gripe about distance and then suggest my own back yard....

: : Anyone?
: : I'm thinking Julyish??
