I was hoping that someone might be able to identify a car from my past. In the early 1970s my late father owned a Comet GT. He bought it in Gander, NF so it would be a Canadian spec Comet.

I've been looking at the images in the archive trying to figure out what year the car would be. I think it had the small bumpers so it could be 72 or earlier. It definately had a black (flat paint?) pedestal style spoiler on the rear deck lid. I'm not 100% certain about the bumpers. It had wheel covers, not alloy rims. The rear tail light surround was blacked out, fancy fuel cap, etc.

It was a GT, bright yellow (with e slight green tint? but not green) with the black stipe down the side. I thought the stripe had "302 GT" on it but I suppose it could have been "Comet GT". I was five when the car was written off so I don't remember much beyond that. My dad got a 1973 Gran Torino after that (in 1976). I think we owned the Comet for at least 3 years...don't know if it was bought new or not.

Any ideas of the specific year? Any references to Canadian options that were available on these cars?

Thanks!
