coil springs

ok here is my question i have a 351w built and ready to put in my 74 mav but i still dont have any coil springs, i want to cut them for a
1 1/2"- 2" drop but i dont want the ride to be too harsh and i was just wondering if i could use I6 springs cut 1 coil or should i use 302 springs cut 1 coil.
